WHERE WE COME FROM
The Metropolitan Technical Community College Education Association (MCCEA) has represented faculty, advisors, and counselors since 1976. Our collective bargaining agreement over the years has allowed us to negotiate fair wages, resolve grievances, and secure fair working conditions for our members for 48 years. While being allied with the Nebraska State Education Association (NSEA) and the Nation Education Association (NEA) has been helpful in establishing and maintaining our local union for several decades, these organizations concentrate on K-12 education. As higher education professionals, in 2024, the MCCEA leadership voted to reorganize to operate independently of the NSEA and the NEA in order to create a more focused and dedicated body of leadership that can provide specific, pin-point support focused on our unique community college environment.
WHO WE ARE
The Metro Community College Educators Union (MCCEU) represents a new chapter in the history of education unions, specifically tailored to the needs and priorities of faculty, advisors, and counselors at MCC. As an independent union, MCCEU will have the resources and autonomy to focus its efforts on addressing the unique challenges and opportunities within the community college sector. MCCEU aims to enhance professional development opportunities, advocate for fair working conditions, and foster a strong sense of solidarity among its members. By establishing partnerships with the local community and leveraging resources effectively, MCCEU seeks to empower educators and promote excellence in education at Metropolitan Community College.

Looking ahead, MCCEU is filled with promise and opportunity. As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain committed to advancing the interests of our members and advocating for high-quality education in the community college sector. Through proactive engagement, strategic partnerships, and timely initiatives, MCCEU will strive to enhance professional growth, job satisfaction, and well-being of educators at Metropolitan Community College. By fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and mutual support, MCCEU aims to build a vibrant and resilient union that empowers its members to thrive in their roles and contribute positively to the success of the institution and its students.
